I had the pleasure of reading this novel a few weeks ago and was in awe of it’s engenuity. Middlesex follows the Stephanides family from Greece to Proibition era Detroit, Michigan- to understand why main character Calliope doesn’t seem like other girls. She uncovers a long hidden family secret, and realizes the genetic history that leads Callie to realize their gender is not what they thought.
